King discusses the prospects for war with Great Britain, including Great Britain's interference with American-French trade and plans to fortify Philadelphia. -- Letter, 1798 Sep. 16, London [to] Sir. King comments on a crowded court docket and the hope for a decision. -- Letter, 1801 Jul. 7, London [to] Nicholas Low. King informs Low that Mr. Gove's brother-in-law will pay Low for debts owed by Grove to King. Low is instructed to invest this money in American stocks. -- 1813 Jan. 25, Jamaica, L.I. [to] E. Huntington. King offers his support for Huntington's proposed newspaper for Suffolk County. King also discusses the political aspects to be considered.

Rufus King (March 24, 1755 – April 29, 1827) was an American lawyer, politician, and diplomat. He was a delegate for Massachusetts to the Continental Congress and the Philadelphia Convention and was one of the signers of the United States Constitution in 1787. After formation of the new Congress he represented New York in the United States Senate. He emerged as a leading member of the Federalist Party, serving as the party's last presidential nominee in the 1816 presidential election. The son...
